Definitely, Dr. Mansfield. A vast majority of stomach cancers are adenocarcinomas, meaning they begin in the cells that make and release mucus and other fluids. Other, more rare types of stomach cancer include:
- Gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors
- Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and
Unfortunately, stomach cancer often has no early signs or symptoms, so most stomach cancers are diagnosed at an advanced stage, when the survival rate is significantly lower.
